Employee Spotlight: Roxane Loehmann

We sat down with Roxane, our IT Service Manager, to find out more about her hobbies, goals and passions in life.

If you could fill your weekend with your favorite activities, what would you do?

I’d be hiking, diving, kayaking, beer tasting or wine tasting. While I love to travel, I love staycation adventures, too. Even if it’s just finding fun patio bars. Some of my favorites are Martin House Brewery and Live Oak Music Hall, in Fort Worth.

What’s the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

I worked in a nursing home as a CNA when I was 14. I worked there throughout high school and even had my own wing and patients.

If you weren’t in IT, what profession would you be in?

I’d be an adventure travel guide, taking people out on unique experiences! Could be zip lining, rafting, hiking, exploring. It doesn’t have to be just adrenaline-rush activities; it’s more of the experiencing something new and taking yourself beyond where you think you could go. And I wouldn’t stay put in one area; I’d love to jump around to different places (Africa, Costa Rica, hiking the Inca Trail, any exotic islands).

What’s your favorite movie of all time?

The Lord of the Rings series. I saw every one of the movies in theaters and read all the books at least ten times each. No joke!

If you were planning your last meal ever, what would be on your plate?

Shrimp and grits from Starfish Market in Cortez, Florida – and key lime pie for dessert (Mary, the boat captain makes it).

Who was your favorite musical group in high school?

Peter Frampton. I had wall to wall posters in my room! And growing up in the Chicago area, I had the opportunity to see a lot of amazing live music in my day!

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

I want to spend a month traveling around Italy exploring the wine and the food. I would stay at a B&B where I could hit the market in the morning and cook all day. Eventually I won’t be able to do all the physical activities I love, but I could do wine and food in a wheelchair! I dream of standing in the middle of sunflowers in Italy with a bottle of wine.

What celebrity would you want to play you in a movie?

I think I’d want Amy Schumer for her humor and outlook. It’s life, you only live it once, enjoy it!

What tech gadget or app could you not live without?

For a gadget I’d say my iPhone 6+, and if I can pick an app, it’s Skyscanner. It helps find cheap plane tickets! You just put the push pin on the map and go!
